The sika deer, Cervus nippon, an aa kent as the spotted deer or the Japanese deer, is a species o deer native tae much o East Asie, an introduced tae various ither pairts o the warld. Previously foond frae northren Vietnam in the sooth tae the Roushie Far East in the north,[1] it is nou uncommon in these auries, excludin Japan, whaur the species is owerabundant.[2] Its name comes frae shika (鹿), the Japanese wird for "deer".
