My name is Alan I am part of the Sales Engineering team here at Exasol. I have been looking to QGIS and been conducting some experiment on connecting Exasol to QGIS. Just to give you an idea on what Exasol is, it is an in-memory Analytical RDBMS Database. I noticed there is already a connector for Oracle integrated into QGIS and I want to ask what is the process to establish a connection to another external database like Exasol? We are very similar to Oracle, Exasol has integrated Geometry data types which could be utilised by QGIS.

From the GUI, I have tried adding a vector layer followed by selecting database and providing the connection credential with a DSN already set up (we have ODBC or JDBC drivers to connect to the database). Once I tried to “Add” it the application would constantly crash after multiple attempts.
I am not sure if this is the right approach when it comes to querying geometry data from different tables within Exasol.

What are the requirement in order to make this work? What steps needs to be taken from our side?
