გრამატიკა |


პორტუგალიურ ანბანში 23 ასოა, ნასესხებ სიტყვებში გამოიყენება აგრეთვე y, k და w. ენაში არის დიგრაფები - nh, lh, ch, ss. დიგრაფების გარდა, ასო h არ გამოითქმება. მახვილის ნიშანი ერთდროულად გამოხატავს აქცენტსაც და ხმოვნის ღია და დახურულ მდგომარეობას. სტრიქონსზედა ნიშანი '~' ხმოვნის ან დიფთონგის ცხვირისმიერ წარმოთქმას აღნიშნავს.


პორტუგალიის თავისებურება ის არის, რომ მისი ენობრივი ცენტრი (კოიმბრისა და ლისაბონის რაიონები) უფრო სამხრეთით მდებარეობს, ვიდრე ესპანეთის ასეთივე ცენტრი. ამის გამო ზოგიერთი ენობრივი ნიშანი, რაც ესპანურში სამხრეთ დიალექტებში შეინიშნება, პორტუგალიაში საერთო ლიტერატურული ნორმაა.
