Bonifasíus 8. (um 1235 – 11. október 1303) var páfi frá 1294. Hann hét upphaflega Benedetto Gaetani og var frá bænum Anagni rétt sunnan við Róm. Árið 1252 varð frændi hans biskup í Todi í Úmbríu og fór Benedetto með honum þangað og hóf nám í kirkjurétti. Árið 1264 varð hann hluti af Páfahirðinni þegar hann varð ritari kardinálans Simon de Brion sem síðar varð Martinus 4. páfi. Hann fylgdi líka kardinálanum Ottobuono Fieschi sem síðar varð Hadríanus 5. páfi til Englands til að styðja Hinrik 3. Englandskonung í borgarastyrjöldinni þar. Hann varð kardináli 1281 og var sendimaður páfa við ýmis tilefni. Hann var kjörinn páfi í kjölfarið þess að Selestínus 5. sagði af sér embætti og var krýndur 23. janúar 1295 eftir að hafa flutt Páfahirðina frá Napólí til Rómar. Hann lýsti árið 1300 helgiár fyrstur páfa.
